Sheer For Your Shoes

The sheer trend has finally made it to shoes.  We just came  across these Sheer Pointy Toe Flats from Cheap Money and the verdict is still out.  We love the neon, but not sure about the whole see-through shoe. What’s your thoughts on these bright sheer flats? They would definitely make a great addition to a color block outfit.

A Healthy Start

This is the type of Gossip we like to hear.

Slowly but surely the fashion industry is changing its standards and listening to women everywhere. Vogue magazine has announced that they will be more conscious of the models within their pages and keep the too young and too thin out of them and will be focusing on more healthy looking models.

Whether young or old, it is clear that people are impressionable and vulnerable and highly impacted by the people, images, and environments around them. Seeing idealized, unhealthy looking models in the pages of our favorite magazines can play crazy mind games and injure our self esteem.

Conde Nast International (owner of Vogue Magazine) Chairman Jonathan Newhouse sums it up perfectly stating, “Vogue believes that good health is beautiful. Vogue Editors around the world want the magazines to reflect their commitment to the health of the models who appear on the pages and the well-being of their readers”.

Our question, how thin is too thin? Seems kind of subjective, how will they monitor healthy? And what about the massive amounts of Photoshop, will that also be toned down?

Sweeth Tooth

These probably wont help us squeeze into our swimsuit anytime soon, but they look too good not to try. At least once…or twice! Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies. Need we  say more.  Nope? That’s what we thought! Check out Very Culinary for more yummy recipes!

Ingredients:

1 cup (2 sticks) softened butter
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1  cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips• 1 package Double Stuff Oreo cookies

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together with a mixer until well combined.  Beat in eggs and vanilla.

In medium bowl mix the flour, salt, and baking soda.  Slowly add to wet ingredients along with chocolate chips until just combined.

Form balls with the dough.

Place one ball on top of an Oreo cookie, and another ball on the bottom. Seal edges together by pressing and cupping in hand.

Place onto parchment or silpat lined baking sheets and bake cookies for approximately 13 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.

Quick Tip: If you don’t feel like going through the steps to make your own cookie dough, just buy the pre-made kinds and start stuffing in those Oreos!

Here!

We now know where to go whenever we are in a grumpy, sadface mood. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero’s new album Here.  Or at least to some of the pre-released singles off of the album which actually drops on May 29th!  We have been listening to their new song That’s What’s Up on repeat for the last week, and show no signs of stopping or slowing down. Take a listen to That’s What’s Up and let us know what you think!

Shade Yourself

With all of the self tanners out there, there is no reason to forgo sunscreen. Sun damage is a major health risk, so we are always trying to find stylish ways to shade our eye and skin from the shining sun. Whether you are strolling the local flea market, at the pool, beach, or BBQ, throw on a fashionable hat to help keep the rays out of your eyes and off of you skin. And remember, even when covered up, sunscreen is always a good idea!

Peep peep

We can taken em’ or leave em’.  The classic Easter candy Peeps seem to always get mixed reviews. Some love them, some hate them, some wait a year until they are nice and stale to eat them.  Lol!  But, these seem like a fun, and easy, way to eat them.  Peeps S’mores! Pretty self-explanatory, just use the microwave.

promote, promote, promote!

How fun is this?!

To promote his upcoming release of his LP Blunderbuss, Jack White (now a solo artists) launched 1000 flexi-discs, of his song  “Freedom at 21″ attached to large balloons into the air.  It is estimated that only about 100 of the disc balloons will be retrieved but it sure would be fun to find one floating through the sky (and landing conveniently on your front lawn)! We love all of these new, fun, and creative promotional ideas.  Check out the video below and Jack Whites  new album when it drops on April 24th!
