MTV Power Couple Beyonce and Jay-Z have welcomed baby girl Blue Ivy into the world on January 7, 2012.  What a name, although we are not at all surprised they chose a unique one.  We can only imaging the talent that this little girl has inherited from both her parents. We also can only imagine the amazing clothes Blue will be donning over the years.  She will probably be a style icon within weeks of her first photo reveal .  Watch out Suri Cruise, Blue Ivy Carter is coming to get ya!

‘Tis The Season

Besides the food, we are all in agreement that Holiday music is our second favorite part about the month of December.  From the old standby classics like White Christmas and It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year to instant pop chart hits such as All I Want for Christmas by Mariah Carey and Death Cab For Cutie’s Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home) we love them all.  That’s why we want to share with you a new take on an old classic performed by She & Him off of their newly released Christmas Album,   A Very She & Him Christmas.  Enjoy the season and this song.

Also, check out this cool list of modern, lesser known, Holiday songs!

What’s Next?

News just broke that Lady Gaga has split from her long time creative director Laurieann Gibson.  It has been assumed that there have been several disputes about the creative direction of many of Gaga’s performances in the past and clearly Gaga and Gibson can no longer work on a unified vision.

So what’s next for Lady Gaga? Sometimes we forgot about all of the work and people behind an artist; that there is so much more than just the individual.  Gibson was likely a strong influence on Gaga and her artistic expression.  We wonder what type of changes may be in her future and are curious if she may go in a new artistic direction now that she will no longer be working with Gibson.

It will definitely be interesting to watch Gaga over the next year or so and see how she continues to morph and adapt and grow as an artist.

Cupcakes and Fireworks!

Happy 1 Day Belated Birthday Katy Perry!

The Pop Princess celebrated her 27th birthday yesterday and instead of asking for the usual presents of jewelry, clothes, etc.  she asked that her friends, family, and fans donate to the ASPCA.  This is such a great idea!  It’s always good to see celebrities using their fame to help support a cause.

Wonder if she also celebrated with cupcakes and fireworks?!

5, 4, 3, 2, 1, GO!

Can this woman get anymore gorgeous or more talented?!

Yes, yes, of course Beyonce’s new song “Countdown” is going to be a surefire hit, but the music video is so upbeat, colorful, and quite mesmerizing that even if you don’t LOVE the song alone, you will LOVE the video!  Well, at least we do!  Even with a baby bump, she manages to awe us with her dance moves.

Also can’t get enough of all the color blocking! What do YOU think?

Smashing Pumpkins at the Wiltern

Last night 2,200 Angelinos met at the historic Wiltern to witness and enjoy a long awaited SMASHING PUMPKINS show.

Smashing Pumpkins best known for their musical hits in the 90s such as Today, 1979, Disarm, Zero and Landslide among others SOLD OUT the night! The place was filled with fans that varied in age.  Billy Corgan (front-man of Smashing pumpkins) along with the rest of the band took the stage at exactly 8:55 p.m.

The band opened with a loud, raged, and pumped tune no one truly recognized. The stage was adorned with bright neon changing color lights and big turning propellers that were unveiled in the middle of a high guitar note. The band played for over two hours. Most of their big Billboards hits weren’t played  leading the audience to look disengaged. However, not all was lost. When the band played Muzzle, Silverfuck and Cherub Rock  the Wiltern went nuts!

Smashing Pumpkins closed their long session with one of their signature songs,Bullet with Butterfly Wings, the moment became the highlight of the night. It was the only moment that had SP fans engaged and energized, singing the chorus so loud and clear that they took over for Billy Corgan.

Billy Corgan, definitely left the crowd and hardcore fans hungry for more of the songs that made Smashing Pumpkins one of the best bands in the world at one point. We were happy to see Billy back on stage but we do have to admit that the old band line up and hit songs were missed and much needed at last night’s show.

About the Smashing Pumpkins:

American alternative rock band that formed in Chicago, IL in 1988.  The band was formed by Billy Corgan frontman (vocals, guitar) and James Iha (guitar), the band has included Jimmy Chamberlin (drums), D’arcy Wretzky (bass), and currently includes Jeff Schroeder (guitar, backing vocals) Mike Byrne (drums), and Nicole Fiorentino (bass guitar, backing vocals) amongst its membership.

The Smashing Pumpkins broke into the musical mainstream with their second album, Siamese Dream (1993). The group built its audience with extensive touring and their follow-up, the double album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995), debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart. With 18.75 million albums sold in the United States alone,The Smashing Pumpkins were one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands of the 1990s.

About the Wiltern Theater:

The Wiltern is a well established landmark in Los Angeles. The historic Wiltern Theatre originally opened on  October 7, 1931  is an excellent example of Art Deco. Capacity: 2,200 varies depending upon how the floor arrangement is setup. The Wiltern hosts a comprehensive list of concerts and festivals for Southern California year round.
