Last night 2,200 Angelinos met at the historic Wiltern to witness and enjoy a long awaited SMASHING PUMPKINS show.
Smashing Pumpkins best known for their musical hits in the 90s such as Today, 1979, Disarm, Zero and Landslide among others SOLD OUT the night! The place was filled with fans that varied in age. Billy Corgan (front-man of Smashing pumpkins) along with the rest of the band took the stage at exactly 8:55 p.m.
The band opened with a loud, raged, and pumped tune no one truly recognized. The stage was adorned with bright neon changing color lights and big turning propellers that were unveiled in the middle of a high guitar note. The band played for over two hours. Most of their big Billboards hits weren’t played leading the audience to look disengaged. However, not all was lost. When the band played Muzzle, Silverfuck and Cherub Rock the Wiltern went nuts!
Smashing Pumpkins closed their long session with one of their signature songs,Bullet with Butterfly Wings, the moment became the highlight of the night. It was the only moment that had SP fans engaged and energized, singing the chorus so loud and clear that they took over for Billy Corgan.
Billy Corgan, definitely left the crowd and hardcore fans hungry for more of the songs that made Smashing Pumpkins one of the best bands in the world at one point. We were happy to see Billy back on stage but we do have to admit that the old band line up and hit songs were missed and much needed at last night’s show.
