Empty Chair/full HEART

here is a cool photo I shot while on the set of a recent photo shoot.
It reminds me of my favorite Banksy wall stencil:

Making the giveaway bags has reignited my love of the stencil!

BTW, if you’ve never heard of the 826 Project, you should really check it out. It all started with the Pirate Supply Store in San Francisco. We have the Time Travel Mart here in Los Angeles. It’s a great place to volunteer if you are into tutoring. If you have no clue what I am talking about, or if you want to see if there is an 826 Project in your town, click here.

geekery

So Iron Man 2 was a bit of a letdown for me, but these movie posters from Screen Rant don’t disappoint. I’m loving the minimalist designs!

hi mom!

1968 - Lazy beach day

Since Mother’s Day is on Sunday, I just wanted to give some mad props to my mom, who has always been a huge creative influence on my fashion sensibility.  Check out the photo of her laying out on the beach in 1968; it’s so dreamy. I am lucky that my dad was so into photography and was able to document her stylishness. I want that purse!

1968 - Mom browsing in a boutique in San Francisco

The photo above is from a little boutique shopping trip my mom took to the big city of San Francisco in 1968 [I wish I knew what the name of the store was]. It  looks like it could be a Dior or Chanel vintage ad. So many beautiful colors and prints – the 1960s were a remarkable time for design! I really appreciate a commitment to bright colors and bold patterns; the 60s were truly a time when people were not afraid to let their colors shine.

Candy Red Ford Mustang from the 60s

Take classic cars for example and compare them to now – there is such a difference in the palette. Today it’s all black, white, grey, and toned-down neutral colors. booooring! In the 60s, cars were candy colored bits of tasty goodness like tropical turquoise, poppy red, springtime yellow. I hope the overall color palette of our roadways changes someday soon. I love designing textiles for swimwear where bright and bold is adored.

oh yeah…. and thanks mom!!! happy mother’s day to all the moms out there!
